About Me

Family Worship Center is a part of the Church of God, founded in 1896, with headquarters in Cleveland, Tennessee. Family Worship Center began in 1954 on East 2nd Street and remained at that location for nine years. In 1963, Family Worship Center moved to 740 West 15th St. with Sunday morning attendance averaging about 40-50 people. Gale Barnett was the pastor during this move and pastored Family Worship Center for seven years, the second longest pastorate. In September of 1990, David Smith became the pastor with the Sunday morning average about 10-15 people.

As the church grew to around 90 attendees, Family Worship Center purchased a building at 540 Alma Ave, and held their first service in September 1994. Family Worship Center paid off the mortgage in October 1998. In 2004, Family Worship Center sold 540 Alma Ave, and leased 801 West 4th Street while their new worship center was being constructed. Family Worship Center moved into their current new worship center in April 2008.
